Willslejog Day 46

Updated: Aug 20, 2022

The final day for Willslejog had arrived!

So that I could arrive at John O’Groats in the afternoon and the distance would be half a marathon, I decided to sleep late and have breakfast with the family. This was a major novelty as I had become accustomed to early morning starts.

After a fabulous breakfast, Lorinda took me to Keiss, where I had finished the previous day.

The route was relatively easy compared to the previous few days and I followed the cliff tops past Keiss castle ruins and fabulous cliffs, stacks and arches.

Halfway there, Nicholas and Callum joined me for a few kilometres. Luckily today’s walk was much less technical in comparison when Nicholas had walked with me a few days ago. However, the could not stay long. Off they went to the end as they wanted to be there with Lorinda and Alex when I eventually would arrive.

The closer I got to John O’Groats, the more mist moved in so that eventually I could only imagine how the rock formations could look.

As I walked, my mind raced back and forth across Lejog reminding me of all the awesome scenery I had seen and the wonderful memories to treasure.

I felt quite victorious crossing the finish line breaking my welcome party’s banner and being sprayed with champagne!

Willslejog has come to its end! Was I ready to finish? I loved the whole experience, but I was ready to go home……
